fANS Are Divided Over The Claudia Winkleman Show

Following the continued success of The Traitors, news of Claudia Winkleman’s very own BBC chat show, The Claudia Winkleman Show, generated a lot of buzz in recent months.

Ahead of its premiere, Claudia was characteristically self-deprecating about the gig: “I’m obviously going to be awful, that goes without saying, but I’m over the moon they’re letting me try,” she told the BBC.

Produced by So Television (the team behind The Graham Norton Show), the series made its BBC One debut on Friday, March 13th, with inaugural guests Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Saunders, and Tom Allen chatting to Claudia in front of a live studio audience on a swanky new set.

Fan Reviews Are Mixed

Naturally, viewers had a lot to say about The Claudia Winkleman Show’s first episode - and opinions have been divided.

Mere seconds after the credits rolled, many viewers took to social media to heap praise on Claudia’s efforts.

“Loved #TheClaudiaWinklemanShow. I can't remember the last time I sat and watched something all the way through without reaching for my phone,” one fan wrote on X. “Well done, Claudia, you can stop being nervous now!”

Meanwhile, another viewer described the show as “light” and “daft,” adding, “Claudia’s doing exactly what she does best. Give it a minute, it’ll find its feet.”

However, not all viewers were quite so enthusiastic.

“Too much audience participation. It all felt rather staged than natural. Needs more focus on the guests and their stories and what they are promoting,” one fan wrote on X.

“I wasn't blown away tbh,” another chimed in. “The lighting was too dark, and the set felt gloomy, but I did like the green sofa. I don't think the mix of guests was the best, either. Claudia herself was fun and entertaining all the way. Needs tweaking (the show, not Claudia).”

Despite some slightly negative comments, the show remains very much in its infancy and will continue airing on Fridays at 10.40pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
