In the wake of ABC’s abrupt cancellation of The Bachelorette Season 22, fans are already floating a bold replacement: The Traitors Season 4 runner-up Maura Higgins.
The speculation kicked off Tuesday, March 24, when gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi posted a claim from an anonymous source that read, “ABC exec friend said that they are looking into getting Maura Higgins to be the new bachelorette and do a live shooting of it. They shut down Layla and Miranda as a dual season and are trying to steer away from the SLOMW (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives) girlies
Adding fuel to the fire, Maura herself commented on the post with a telling side-eye emoji, further suggesting the rumor could be true.

The Bachelorette Cancelation
ABC pulled the plug on The Bachelorette Season 22 on March 19, just three days before the premiere was scheduled to air.
The season was canceled after TMZ released 2023 footage showing the season’s lead, Taylor Frankie Paul of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives fame, in an alleged violent altercation with her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
Amid an ongoing domestic-assault investigation, Disney stated it was prioritizing “supporting the family” and shelved the season entirely.

Enter Higgins. Fresh off a second-place finish on The Traitors Season 4, the Irish reality star spent weeks charming audiences with her quick wit and zero-filter energy.
She formed a tight alliance with fellow Love Island alum Rob Rausch, only to learn in the finale that he had been a Traitor the entire time.
Rob walked away with the full $220,800 prize while a visibly stunned Maura processed the betrayal on camera. “I’ve already got severe trust issues,” she later joked in interviews, adding that she’s been celibate for a year because of past relationship drama.

Maura Would Be “A Great” Bachelorette
As a battle-tested reality TV veteran with stints on both Love Island UK and The Traitors, and currently very single, Maura appears to be an ideal candidate for The Bachelorette — and fans agree.
“I tink this is a great idea,” one fan commented about the rumor, referencing Maura’s signature Irish pronunciations. “This would be soooo good!” Another chimed in. “ABC please make this happen.”
