Love Island Bosses Reportedly Aren’t Happy With Maya Jama’s Traitors Gig

Maya Jama has joined the biggest reality TV show in the UK – but her new gig has left Love Island bosses panicking.
Jama, who has hosted ITV’s Love Island since 2023, recently joined the cast of BBC’s The Celebrity Traitors Series 2, which began filming in Scotland in early May.
While a huge career coup for Jama, Love Island “bigwigs” are reportedly worried about her stint on the hit BBC reality show.

Speaking to The Sun, a TV insider claimed, “Maya signing up for Celebrity Traitors has created a sense of panic with the bosses on Love Island, as it’s made them fear her days hosting the reality show are numbered.”
“Many of the bigwigs have quietly feared this year might be her last for some time, but now she’s signed up for the biggest show on television on a rival network, they really feel like they are on borrowed time,” they added. “There is a sense that, as much as Maya loves Love Island, she’s itching to spread her wings.”
Maya’s TV Career is set to flourish
According to the TV insider, Love Island bosses have reason to be worried about Maya’s Celebrity Traitors gig, as she’s set “to be more in demand than ever” after the show airs on BBC One in Autumn 2026.
“The first series was the highest-rated show on TV, and the second series is expected to be even bigger,” the insider claimed to The Sun. “It will open her up to a huge mainstream audience, which is very different from the youth demographic that Love Island appeals to, so after Traitors, it’s only a matter of time before offers come in for other BBC shows too.”
