The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 Begins With “mind-blowing twists”

A lucky group of journalists watched The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 premiere, and the verdict is in: the show is bigger, funnier, twistier, and somehow even more unhinged than Series 1.
The much-anticipated second series begins on Thursday, October 1st on BBC One and iPlayer. To celebrate the show’s return, the BBC held a secret London premiere screening with host Claudia Winkleman in attendance.
Metro journalist Adam Miller was among the lucky journos invited. Sharing spoiler-free details of the episode, Miller gave fans two warnings: “Expect the unexpected and some absolutely mind-blowing twists that have never been seen before.”

While Alan Carr’s hilarious Celebrity Traitors run is a hard act to follow, Miller assures fans that Series 2 is “instantly even funner than Series 1.”
“If I wasn’t pulling my hair out or letting out gasps far too loud to be shared in public, I was belly-laughing the entire way through,” Miller wrote.
“Genuinely epic”
The Sun’s Rod McPhee was in the same packed Celebrity Traitors screening. He put the sequel in that tiny club of follow-ups that actually beat the original, alongside The Empire Strikes Back and Oasis’s Morning Glory.
“The new series of TCT is genuinely epic,” he said, “and not just because it’s obvious they’ve deliberately tried to make it different. But because it’s obvious they’ve tried to do MORE. So much more.”
His verdict: “Yes, there are traits of the first Celebrity Traitors — but in this sequel they’re bigger and so much better.”

McPhee noted the series is “funnier” because around a third of the 21 players are comics or comedy actors. The “big dogs” still emerge, he added, but they are not only the obvious names.

This year’s treacherous batch of celebrities includes Rob Beckett, Maya Jama, Joanne McNally, Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.
As mentioned, the show kicks off on October 1st on BBC One and is immediately followed by The Celebrity Traitors spinoff Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble.
