Maura Higgins Just Landed Her Biggest Ever TV Gig

Disney has locked in its new face for the long-awaited Blind Date revival, and it’s none other than Maura Higgins.
The Love Island and Traitors US favourite will front the 10-part reboot of the iconic dating show, which will air on Disney+.
History of Blind Date
The original Blind Date launched on ITV in 1985 with Cilla Black at the helm until 2003, before Channel 5 revived it in 2017 with Paul O’Grady for four series.

The streamer announced it was bringing the classic in June 2025, teasing a “bigger, better and bolder” Blind Date.
Along with new host Higgins, the revived series will feature an updated version of the beloved format.

Contestants will start their journey to find love in a secret location and must choose between three potential suitors hidden behind the legendary Blind Date wall.
Then comes the big twist: the daters will go on to spend the summer living together, but potential new partners will also be lurking behind that same wall.
The Sun reports that Disney’s Blind Date will film at a “tropical retreat in Mexico and might air sometime in 2027.

Maura is the perfect match
Angela Jain, head of content at Disney+ EMEA, said new host Maura is the perfect match for the revived show.
“Her distinctive straight-talking humour, coupled with her experience as a reality dating show contestant, means we know she has the gravitas plus the wit to bring Blind Date to new audiences,” Jain said. “We’re very much looking forward to Maura helping our daters navigate their own journeys to find love.”

From her Love Island USA presenting duties and a standout runner-up finish on The Traitors US Season 4, to competing on Dancing With the Stars Season 35 this fall, Maura’s reality TV credentials speak for themselves — and fans agree.
“Should be great fun with Maura,” one fan wrote on X of the announcement. “This will be such fun if not scripted. Her one liners are so funny,” another commented.
